Mulching & Wood Recycling Services in Fort Collins
Plan Mulching & Wood Recycling Services in Fort Collins
Tree work generates wood chips and other organic material that can be recycled into useful mulch. We process debris from pruning and removal jobs into mulch that homeowners can use around their properties.
Fresh wood chips work well for pathways and around trees and shrubs. They help retain soil moisture and suppress weeds. Availability depends on current work volume, so supply varies throughout the year.
What's Included in This Service
We can deliver mulch when we have it available, however, deliveries are made as a full load from our truck and must be accepted all at once (up to approximately 6-8 cubic yards). The mulch is typically a mix of different wood types from various tree species we've worked on. Application depth matters - 2-3 inches provides good coverage without creating problems. Too much mulch can retain too much moisture and attract pests. Wood up to 10–12 inches in diameter can be processed into wood chips. Our chipper is a 12-inch chipper, so anything larger is hauled off as logs or left on-site.
Key Benefits of This Service
We process wood waste from tree work into mulch rather than sending it to landfills. This provides a useful product for homeowners while supporting environmental responsibility.
What type of wood makes the best mulch?
Mixed wood chips from various local trees work well for most applications. The mix changes based on what tree work we've been doing.
How much mulch do I need for my garden beds?
A 2-3 inch layer covers effectively. Measure your bed areas to calculate how much you need - it's usually more than people expect.
Can I use fresh wood chips immediately?
Fresh chips work fine for pathways and around established plants. For vegetable gardens, aged mulch is better to avoid nitrogen tie-up.
Is mulch available year-round?
Availability depends on our current workload. We have more during busy pruning and removal seasons, less during slow periods.
Does mulch help with water conservation?
Yes, mulch reduces water evaporation and helps soil retain moisture longer. This is especially helpful during Colorado's dry periods.
